1:00 pm - Dental Health Solutions for Children: A Dental Safety Net for School Age Children - Jeffrey C. Phillips, D.M.D.

Dental Health Solutions for children has successfully implemented a three-pronged approach to reduce dental disease in our community’s school age children: Education (parents and children), Prevention Services (screenings, cleanings, sealants) and Access to Treatment (Neighborhood Dentist Program, Give Kids a Smile Clinics, Boys and Girls Health Services Center). Grants, volunteers and community network including the public school system make a huge impact on the dental well-being of children throughout our capital city of over 100,000 people. Learn how to begin a dental safety next for school age children in your community.

1:40 pm - Are You Prepared for a Fire Disaster? - Kurt Bomze, D.D.S.

This presentation will cover a personal experience in having a fire in an office, resulting in a total rebuild. It will cover all problems encountered: fire insurance policy and what must be included to be fully insured; learn who the appropriate professional people are to contact to assist in recovery when a fire does occur; and finally, the steps one needs to minimize the physical, emotional, procedural and financial damage.

2:20 pm - The Role of the Pediatric Dentist in Management of Patient Education Addressing Risk for Chronic Disease - Steven P.

Hackmyer, D.D.S. & Connie Mobley, Ph.D. Supportive evidenced-based practices can enhance the management and treatment of pediatric dental patients to lead to decreasing risk of childhood obesity and chronic diseases like type II diabetes. Proven strategies and interventions will be presented as well as issues and challenges will be examined.

3:00 pm - Orthodontic Management of Impacted Maxillary Incisors - John R. Christensen, D.D.S., M.S. & Linwood M. Long Jr., D.D.S., M.S.

The management of impacted maxillary incisors must involve complete and accurate records, a problem-oriented treatment plan, and a team approach to create an esthetic outcome. We will discuss issues associated with impacted teeth and offer suggestions for successful outcomes.

4:20 pm - Using the Erbium: YAG Laser for Pulpotomies of Primary Teeth - Lawrence A. Kotlow, D.D.S.

The results of using Erbium: YAG Lasers for the treatment of pulpotomies for the past five years will show the ease and benefit of non-chemical pulp treatment.
